Truck and Engine on a Mutual Aid Job to Mendham Twp.

November 8, 2009

Author: Capt. M Vanadia

At Approximately 0324 Hours this Morning, Station 4 was alerted for a mutual aide response into Mendham Township for a working dwelling fire.  Truck 43 responded with six to the scene.  The Truck arrived on scene and received orders to go to the roof and open up for the Engine companies operating inside.  Crews Split, 3 to the roof to open up and 2 for a 360 and Recon of the dwelling.  Crew operated on roof making 2 ventilation holes to allow the engine company to extinguish the fire and cut the fire off from spreading through the attic area.  Crews Rehabbed and then were put to work with various salvage and overhaul assignments.

Also on the mutual aide assignment was Engine 41.  The Engine was ordered to set up a Tanker Fill site in the area of South Rd. and Wexford Ct. in Randolph.  Due to shortage of hydrants in the area, the Tanker Task Force was activated and moved several thousand gallons of water from the fill site to a dump site near the scene.

Crews operated for approximately 3 ½ Hours until they were released from the scene to return to quarters around 0700 Hrs.
